Some terminology you should know in this medium of entertainment:

ARG- Alternate reality game.

Puppetmaster/PM- A person involved with the running of an ARG. Often described as both an ally and an enemy to a player as they create the problems and the solutions.

 

The Curtain- A figurative curtain, refers to the line of secrecy between a puppetmaster and their players. This can range from complete secrecy to the PM just not talking to the players in-game.

 

Rabbithole/Trailhead- A clue, post, website, or any other thing that marks off where players begin playing the game. The content of these vary.

 

This Is Not A Game/TINAG- Referring to the sense of immersion an ARG should have. For example, a mentioned website should exist.
